With McClafferty Funeral Directors there is no such thing as a standard arrangement. We work with you to customise and personalise every detail to your exacting requirements. We liaise with all medical staff, clergy, cemeteries, and crematoria as and when required. In 2024 McClafferty Funeral Directors marks 120 years as the city’s longest established funeral director.
1904
September 2, 1904Mr. John L. McClafferty established McClafferty Funeral Directors in King Street in the Waterside, Derry in 1904. He and his family ran the business until 1974. The image shows McClafferty Funeral Directors funeral home all those years ago.
1974
March 14, 1974In 1974 Mr. Jack McKeone took ownership of McClafferty Funeral Directors whilst situated at Meenan Square in the Bogside. He continued to run the business for the next 13 years.
1987
February 17, 1987Ownership then passed to Mr. John Casey in 1987 who remained at the helm alongside his family for 32 years. The image shows Mr. John Casey directing a funeral in 2014 with a horse-drawn carriage in procession on the Brandywell Road clearly showing the old Brandywell Stadium in the background recently renamed the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

March 8, 2019In March 2019 our new owner and proprietor Mr. Kieran Connor took the reigns of McClafferty Funeral Directors and has devoted himself to providing an authentic, personal & caring service to the families of Derry and beyond in their time of need.

We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Barry Donaghey, peacefully at The Foyle Hospice, after a heroic battle with Cancer, on 26th September 2024.
May he rest in peace.
Beloved father of Katie, Amy, Keith and Kerrylynn. Dearest father-in-law of Leila, John-Paul and Jay. Loving granda of Dervla, Ryan, Jack, Dylan, Arleen, Scarlett, Jamie, Tristan, Jim, Lola and Luna. A much loved brother and uncle. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle and friends.
Barry’s remains will be resting at his daughter Katie’s residence, 45 Ard Grange from 3pm tomorrow afternoon, Friday 27th September. Funeral leaving from there on Sunday 29th September at 11:30am for a 12pm burial in the City Cemetery. Everyone welcome.
Wake house will be private from 10pm until 11am.

We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Deborah McBride, peacefully at her home on 25th September 2024.
Late of 20 Hollymount Park. May she rest in peace.
Beloved mother of Kerry. Loving daughter of the late Noel and Eleanor. Devoted sister of Brian, Brenda, Tony and Eamonn. Dearest sister-in-law of Tracey, Eamon, Mona and Sarah. A much loved mother-in-law of Eugene. A dear aunt and great-aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her wider family circle and friends.
Deborah’s remains will be reposing at her late home, 20 Hollymount Park from 2pm this afternoon, Wednesday 25th September. Funeral leaving from there on Friday 27th September at 9:15am for 10am Requiem Mass in St. Columb’s Church, Chapel Rd. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ardmore.
Wake house will be private from 10pm until 11am.
