With McClafferty Funeral Directors there is no such thing as a standard arrangement. We work with you to customise and personalise every detail to your exacting requirements. Our experienced and professional staff will help guide you through each step of the planning process discussing all your expectations such as funeral costs, floral arrangements, funeral vehicles, and coffin selection, every detail will be fine-tuned. We liaise with all medical staff, clergy, cemeteries, and crematoria as and when required. In 2024 McClafferty Funeral Directors marked 120 years as the city’s longest established funeral director.
1904
September 2, 1904Mr. John L. McClafferty established McClafferty Funeral Directors in King Street in the Waterside, Derry in 1904. He and his family ran the business until 1974. The image shows McClafferty Funeral Directors funeral home all those years ago.
1974
March 14, 1974In 1974 Mr. Jack McKeone took ownership of McClafferty Funeral Directors whilst situated at Meenan Square in the Bogside. He continued to run the business for the next 13 years.
1987
February 17, 1987Ownership then passed to Mr. John Casey in 1987 who remained at the helm alongside his family for 32 years. 2019
March 8, 2019In March 2019 our new owner and proprietor Mr. Kieran Connor took the reigns of McClafferty Funeral Directors and has devoted himself to providing an authentic, personal & caring service to the families of Derry and beyond in their time of need.
2025
May 27, 2025On the 27th May 2025 our proprietor Mr. Kieran Connor and his son Kieran Lucas Connor take receipt of their all new Mercedes Benz Funeral Fleet taking McClafferty Funeral Directors into the next phase of its continued expansion.

Kathleen McCauley

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen McCauley, peacefully at Meadowbank Care Home, Trench Road, surrounded by her loving family on July 4th, 2026.
Late of 11 Carrickreagh Gardens, Creggan. May she rest in peace.
Beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Mary McCauley. Cherished sister of Eugene and the late Teresa, Patsy, Hugh, Junior and Johnny. A dearly-loved Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her wider family circle, friends and neighbours. Kathleen’s remains will repose at her late home, 11 Carrickreagh Gardens, this afternoon, Saturday (July 4th) from 3:30 p.m. Funeral leaving from there on Monday (July 6th) at 9:25 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Creggan at 10 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.
The wake house will be private from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m.

Barney Mullan

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Barney Mullan, peacefully at home on 30th June 2026.
Late of 63 Gleneagles, Derry. May he rest in peace. Beloved husband of the late Gemma. Devoted father of Martin, Moya and the late Michelle. Dearest father-in-law of Pamela, Paul and Jonathan. Loving granda of Barry, Kellie, Adele, Blake and Troy. A much loved great-granda to all of his loving great-grandchildren. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle, friends and neighbours.
Barney’s remains will be reposing at his late home, 63 Gleneagles, this afternoon, Wednesday (July 1st) from 2 p.m. Funeral leaving from there on Friday (July 3rd) at 9:20 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn at 10 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in Ballyoan Cemetery.

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Simpson, peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital, after a short illness bravely borne, on June 22nd, 2026.
Late of 142 Canterbury Park, Derry. May he rest in peace.
Much-loved daddy of Alex. Devoted brother of Danny, John, Daryl and the late Lisa and Julie. A cherished son of the late Dolores and Danny Simpson. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by Aisling and her mother Rosaleen, his extended family circle, friends and neighbours.
Anthony’s remains will be reposing at the McClafferty Funeral Home and Chapel of Rest tomorrow evening, Tuesday (June 23rd) from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday (June 24th) at 9:30 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower at 10 a.m. Private Cremation afterwards at Lakeland’s Crematorium, Co. Cavan.
